Over, under and sometimes across from the feet of the most successful freestyle athletes at last year’s Olympic Games, the Faction Prodigy 1X Skis are a “business as usual” choice for skiers interested in dominating big air and slopestyle comps, and deserve special consideration if that’s the direction you’re heading. A narrower, lighter 88mm platform spins better and still has the guts to stick tough landings, while the Faction-approved directional twin profile gets the nod not only on the jump course but the rest of the mountain as well.
Features
- Rocker Type: Rocker-Camber-Rocker – Tip Rocker: 158 = 280mm, 164 = 290mm, 171 = 300mm | Camber: All Sizes = 3mm | Tail Rocker: 158 = 220mm, 164 = 230mm, 171 = 240mm
- Flex: Flex Rating – 7 (1 = Soft, 10 = Stiff)
- Sidecut: Elliptical Sidecut – Elliptical Sidecut is made up of a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii in the tip and tail of the ski. The long radius underfoot means you can pivot faster and easier, while a shorter radius in the tip and tail result in easier turn initiation. This sidecut allows for a wide variety of turn lengths, angles and mounting positions.
- Shape: Directional Twin – A considerably skinnier tail width than in the tip provides ultimate downhill performance for attacking the mountain. A twin tip in the tail encourages playfulness and freestyle attitude, meaning you can ride switch with ease. Tip Height – 64mm, Tail Height – 50mm
- Core: Sustainable Poplar-Ash Wood Core – Poplar is a light-colored, durable softwood that flexes and pops nicely as well as having great vibration absorption capabilities. Ash is a heavier hardwood, that complements Poplar by adding stiffness and durability. This duo provides excellent hold on hard snow, a solid base for stomping landings and enough pop and flex for creativity.
- Sidewalls: Microcap Full Strength Sidewall – Micro-cap construction is a hybrid of a premium, sandwich sidewall construction fused with a lightweight, durable cap construction. With micro-cap, the sandwich construction provides awesome edge hold and torsional stability while the ski’s topsheet wraps around and meets the sidewall, protecting the fragile joint that can be prone to chipping.
- Edges: XL 2.5mm Edges – Fractions of a millimeter might not sound like much, but when it comes to edges, it adds up. The 2.5mm edges stack an extra 25% of height on top of our already super-durable standard 2.0mm edges. This extra steel gives the rider a pair of skis that are going to take more abuse and last longer.
- Additional Features: 100% Renewable Energy Factory, Locally Sourced Materials, Recycled Materials
- Binding Compatibility: We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width. Drill Bit – 4.1 x 9mm
